Skipping Ahead Now

Fans of the Rance series will be aware that a new Rance game is due out in August (and if you weren't before, then you are now!) The demo has been available for a few days now, and ours being the ambitious group that it is, we (and when I say we, I don't actually mean myself) decided to go ahead and translate it for you. Our flavor of English demo comes in both a patch and pre-patched variety, so choose your poison.

Also, a quick reminder that the Rance 2 (aka Rance II) patch is out, and if you haven't tried it yet, the response has been more than a little positive, so it might just be worth taking a look at. As always, download links for anything we put out (among other things) will be maintained in the ever-expanding sidebar.

Rance 2: The Rebellious Maidens [English Patch]

After several months of work shared between a dozen or so people working through unending setbacks, we've got a release for the revamped version of the second entry in the Rance saga... and it weighs in at under 5 megs. Good things certainly do come in small packages. As always, we appreciate any feedback and bug reports, which are most likely going to be dealt with quickest on the HGTP forums. Also, please do swing round there and show your love and support to the dedicated translation team that made this possible.

A new version of the Rance 2 patch is available, and the download links in this post and in the sidebar have been updated to reflect the change. Enjoy the new and improved version of the game... now with better grammar! ^_^

Rance 02 (2010 version) Release Imminent

According to zweiterversuch:

There isn't anything left to translate.

I will just give the options I translated to somebody to proof and once that is done...

It should be done by the end of the week.
Look forward to the next blog post containing an actual release, and the team moving on to work on Rance 3. ^_^

As always, release information will also be available in the HGTP forums and on Hongfire.

Teams Work.

The team is still steadily working on a Rance 2. No details on any kind of release schedule, since this project is so much larger than Rance 1 and all the different aspects of the translation have to be handled by people with different talents. In fact, the project is so much larger that we are now working in our own forum (with many thanks to Asqualla, for letting us move in to his place) to get things running smoother and hopefully speed up the entire process. Currently, I'm working on translating some of the images used in-game. If you want to know what others are currently working on, feel free to pop by the development threads in the Team Discussion section on the forum (but please refrain from posting in them... we'll be glad to answer questions or respond to feedback in The Lounge.)

... is actually a bit of a misnomer for this post, since Zweiter and I (and the rest of the translation team, yes, but they don't have posting privileges on the blog, so nya-nya) aren't actually developing a *new* game. Regardless, I've been keeping my ear to the ground about several promising freelance H-Games that are in development (which I'll get around to adding links to eventually,) and Daisy_Strike, who contributed quite a bit to the creation and development of slaves for Slave Maker, has been working on his own project since last summer (perhaps even earlier) and has just released a version that's polished enough to call "official." I recommend heading over there right now and giving the game a run through... but don't spoil anything for me! It's been about a month or two since I've been able to give any of the beta versions a thorough run-through, and I won't be able to get to this one until after the weekend, but I fully intend to put it through its paces in a few days.

::Edit:: Shortly after posting this, CMac announced an alpha overhaul of SlaveMaker so you should head over to the SM blog, or the MasterBloodfer forum and give that a try as well.

It's been one hell of a week, and I won't saddle you with the details, but suffice it to say that real life has been monopolizing my time lately. Thankfully, my help hasn't been needed to keep work on Rance 2 moving, so things are still progressing just fine. However, I was supposed to be working on revisions of the text for Rance 1 this week, which makes it entirely my fault that a new, revised version hasn't been released. Luckily, dealing with family all this week has let me contract whatever illness one of them had, which actually gives me the perfect excuse to stay right here in front of the computer and get some work done.

Back on Track

For those that aren't keeping track over at hongfire, the translation team has succeeded in hacking Rance 2, so the third installment is taking a backseat and we'll be working on the games in order once again. I'd also like to remind everyone that a preliminary release of the translated version of Rance 1 - Quest for Hikari is available. Please, give us your feedback or bring bugs to our attention either here or in the translation project thread on hongfire.
